No two website projects are ever the same, but there are always three phases that are common to all projects:
The Needs Assesment Phase
Our first step is to assess your needs, goals and expectations for the website, as well as determine domain name and web hosting requirements. We need to know where we're going before we put the keys in the ignition. This is typically accomplished in a one week time-frame. Through a series of meetings and conversations, we set clear objectives for what we want the site to accomplish, and how we want the end-user to navigate though it.
Once our goals are defined, we create a Navigational Flow Chart. This document maps out every page of your website, what content is on each page, and the intended path for the end-user. Once approved, this serves as our roadmap for the design phase.
The Website Design Phase
Now that we have a clear picture of your website documented, we begin the design phase, where we design the look of your site. This is usually accomplished in two to three weeks, but can be completed in as little as a week.
We typically create a mock-up of the site, including a home page, a matching content page, and any additional "special" pages. If this is an e-commerce solution, we also create ordering system mockups that walk you though how the ordering system will work, prior to database and application development. Each mock-up shows color scheme, navigation style, button rollovers, text & link colors, icons and graphic elements, as well as any areas that could become flash elements, if applicable. We present this design to you in a secured area on our server for your approval.
The Web Development Phase
The next step is web development, which usually takes three to four weeks. This is when we create the code framework that presents your home page and content page design on the web. This framework serves a the basis for which all other pages are built, and extensive testing is conducted during this phase for browser and platform compatibility. Our goal is full compatibility. Your website must look and function the same - no matter what computer platform and browser combination the end-user may have.
Once we have developed and tested these initial pages, we begin to build all other pages of the website. Throughout this phase, we encourage you to login to a secured area on our server to review our progress and provide feedback, and we send you update emails at numerous milestones on the project timeline.
Once we have completed development and tested your website for complete compatibility, we ask for your final approval. Upon approval, we upload your site to the web. Once your new site is live, we provide 30 days of website maintenance an no charge.
